Here's What Most people Don't Know About Hypnotherapy:
Hypnotherapy is a type of therapy that uses hypnosis to help people overcome many different types of emotional, mental and behavioral challenges; and is very effective at improving these challenges.
It can be used to treat a whole bunch of issues, such as anxiety, depression, smoking, low self-confidence, phobias (such as the fear of flying or fear of spiders), different kinds of addiction, chronic pain, and more!
History shows that there are examples of hypnosis as a type of therapy that goes all the way back to ancient times, where it was used by both ancient Greeks and Egyptians.
So, how does hypnotherapy work? Much like guided meditation, hypnotherapy works by guiding people into a very relaxed state of mind, specifically, into the theta brain state. It’s here, in the subconscious mind, with specific guidance by the therapist (usually in some form of a journey of the mind) that a person make positive changes.
Despite what many people believe, hypnosis is not about mind control or manipulation. Instead, a hypnotherapist (much like a stage hypnotist) works with the permission of the client to achieve certain goals. And, while the hypnotherapist acts as a guide, the client is always in control of what they will or will not do, say or even think.
Hypnotherapy, much like other therapies, is a tool best used with other solutions to a challenge to achieve optimal effectiveness and success. This might include cognitive behavioral therapy, exercise and nutrition, mindfulness exercises and more
Studies show that hypnotherapy is a very safe and non-invasive form of therapy. Side effects include feeling very relaxed afterwards, and seeing improvement in area being worked on by the client and therapist.
So, just how effective is hypnotherapy? Well, overall it’s pretty darned effective! Of course the effectiveness varies from person to person, and depends on things like how motivated a person is to make a change, how skilled the hypnotherapist is at guiding the client, how intense an issue is (the more-intense, of course, the longer deep-lasting change may take). That being said, most people report seeing lots of improvement after just a few sessions.
While hypnotherapy is very effective in person, it can also be conducted over the phone, over video chat, or even via video recordings.
Many people first encounter hypnosis through some sort of stage show by a hypnotist. However, the entertainment often viewed in such a show does not accurately represent what hypnosis is about and how it can be effectively used, especially for purposed of therapy and change.
While hypnotherapy is safe for most people, it’s not recommended for people with medical conditions such as epilepsy, schizophrenia, or multiple-personality-disorder. If unsure, consult with your medical professional.
