Understanding Stress

Stress is your body's response to pressures from a situation or life event (both actual and anticipated, i.e. "fearing the worst"). This natural reaction involves physical, mental, and emotional changes, activating the "fight or flight" response. Left unchecked, chronic stress can lead to health issues such as anxiety and sleep disturbances. Managing and decreasing overall stress is both possible, and a lot easier than most people would guess. Techniques like mindfulness and guided hypnosis, which can help reframe thought patterns and promote relaxation, are especially helpful. Are Stress And Anxiety The Same Thing?

Stress and anxiety might feel similar, but they’re not the same. Think of stress as your body's reaction to a tough situation that- usually- eases once the issue is resolved. Anxiety, on the other hand, lingers around and doesn’t always need a clear reason to show up—it’s like an unwanted guest that overstays its welcome. More-specifically, it's like the guest who always anticipates the worst possible outcome.

While both can ruffle your feathers, they need different handling techniques. Stress might need some immediate fixes, like managing your to-do list, taking deep breaths to interrupt those cortisol spikes and that monkey mind, and then visualizing a smooth outcome. Anxiety, on the other hand, could require deeper strategies like guided hypnotherapy. If you’re feeling stuck with either, feel free to reach out!

Where is Stress Stored in the Body?

Stress doesn't just affect your mind; it settles in your body too. As a hypnotherapist, I often see how stress manifests physically in various areas. Common spots include:

  • Neck and Shoulders: These areas tense up during stress as your body’s natural defense against pain or injury.

  • Back: Especially the lower back, which can ache when you're under stress due to muscle tension.

  • Head: Stress can lead to headaches or migraines by causing muscles in the head and neck to tighten.

  • Stomach: Many experience 'butterflies' or even stomach pain during stressful periods due to gastrointestinal upset.

Understanding where you hold stress is the first step towards managing it. Techniques like deep breathing, mindfulness, and guided relaxation can help release this tension. If stress is a constant companion in your life, feel free to reach out for some additional help.

How Can Hypnotherapy Quickly and Effectively Reduce Stress?

Hypnotherapy is a powerful tool for stress reduction, offering rapid and effective relief. As a hypnotherapist, I guide clients to a relaxed state where the mind is more open to positive suggestions.

Here’s how hypnotherapy can quickly alleviate stress:

  • Deep Relaxation: Hypnotherapy induces a state of deep relaxation, helping to calm the nervous system and reduce the physiological effects of stress.

  • Reframing Mindset: It helps change the negative thought patterns that fuel stress, replacing them with positive, constructive ones.

  • Enhanced Coping Skills: During sessions, you can learn personalized techniques to manage stressors more effectively in your daily life. Many of my clients who used to experience chronic stress and even panic attacks, have learned how to stop these dead in their tracks; even in triggering situations that used to cause big stress storms for them are now things they can quickly calm and manage.

  • Emotional Release: Hypnotherapy can aid in releasing pent-up emotions and tension, which often contribute to stress.

  • Regular sessions can lead to long-lasting changes, by literally re-wiring your brain to cope with stressful situations in a different and more-helpful way! If you’re overwhelmed by stress, consider scheduling a consultation to explore how hypnotherapy can help you regain control and enjoy a more relaxed life.

Is it a magic pill to get rid of stress? No, of course not. But does it work to drastically reduce stress (and other related mental health concerns). Absolutely! Hypnotherapy is one of the most effective treatments decrease stress, as well as challenges like depression, anxiety, PTSD and more!.

So, What Kind of Treatment San Diego Is Available Through Healing You Hypnotherapy?

It goes without saying that everybody’s circumstances are unique, and we know that your story (and your mental health) is like nobody else’s. So how can Healing You Hypnotherapy help you to overcome depression? To understand how and why it’s so effective at treating mental health issues like depression (in San Diego and elsewhere), let’s briefly look at what hypnotherapy is and how it works.

To start with, hypnotherapy is guided hypnosis, and is a lot like meditation with a goal. More-precisely, it’s like having a very relaxed conversation with your eyes closed. It's also an outpatient treatment, usually done virtually. (We do not do inpatient treatment).

Did you know that about 10% of who you are and what you do on a day-to-day basis (included feeling depressed) comes from your conscious mind, and 90% of who you are and what you do is driven by your subconscious mind? It’s true! So if that’s the case, then the memories, beliefs and behaviors that drive you (and me!) lie in our subconscious minds. That includes all of the memories, thought-loops, beliefs and behaviors that lead to depression having such a big hold on people. It really is what has such a big effect on our overall mental health.

What we, as hypnotherapists, do, is help you to relax down to your subconscious mind (while you remain fully-aware, and fully in control) and help get rid of those depressing superhighway thought loops (no judgment here- we all have some of these!). We shrink down the gravity and enormity of these negative superhighways driving our minds, and increase (or lay anew) thought-loop super-highways that serve you better. You know-we start laying more superhighways in your brain of optimistic thoughts, grateful thoughts, thoughts that allow you to appreciate yourself and your accomplishments (we know- you probably don’t let yourself acknowledge how far you have come, and we’re gonna change that!). And then, the more we shrink down the impact of those negative thought-loops and previously-automatic behaviors that reinforce depression, the quicker you overcome depression, and the quicker your overall mental health improves.

I certainly wasn't expecting the (first) session to be so powerful and to get right to the cause of the issue, I'm sure there are many more 😅This was really an amazing experience and I appreciate your expertise and kind, positive spirit..."

Carlos G:

I have wasted several thousands dollars going to psychics to try to find a solution to cure my depression and anxiety.

But now with only three sessions of hypnotherapy with Jennifer, I have seen immediate results.

She has helped me connect and heal some parts of myself that I did not know they existed.

I now feel less depressed, and anxious.

In one of the hypnotherapist sessions, we work with my inner child. I take life too seriously. I get angry about everything. Now, after only three sessions with Jennifer, I am now less reactive to my environment. Now, I have trouble getting angry.

Also,... I am more playful now!

Yesterday....previously I would have gotten angry, and that anger probably would have stayed with me for a couple of days. This time, it didn’t bother me. I didn’t get angry. I can probably keep writing about how Jennifer has helped me with hypnosis, but I don’t have enough space…

Lotus:

l tried different therapists, psychologists, other private individual hypnotherapy, Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy (AEDP), Focusing, Whole Body Focusing, Mindfulness, Self-talk to my inner child.......finding ways to get rid of those images, because l knew that image was affecting me, but, it just came out in my head whenever l felt lonely or sadness...

After having only one hypnotherapy session with Jennifer, she helped me realize or find out reasons behind my 40+ year emotional disturbance, such as feelings of loneliness, sadness, wanting to be loved, wanting to be cherished, wanting others' compliments, anger towards males, self-doubt, self-hatred.....

… With Jennifer patiently and professionally guiding me in the hypnotherapy session, l felt safe and was able to touch my unconscious / hidden / forbidden but true feeling.

It was like clearing all the dark clouds which covered the beautiful, sparkling and shinning stars in the sky.

The star is now able to see itself much more clearly and can shine on itself in the darkness.

It really helps me figure out a way out after being hurt, suffered and maltreated...

l am so grateful for Jennifer's professional leading, patiently accompanying, deeply understanding of my feelings, empathetic encouragement and non-judgmental attitude.

l felt safe and accompaniment from Jennifer's professional leading, kind-hearted and generosity.
