This includes all the thoughts, beliefs, and memories that can lead to unwanted emotions, bad habits, and emotional issues of all sorts. No wonder it has such an impact on our mental health!

What if you could go directly into your subconscious and reprogram it to think, feel and act the way you really want to live your life? Hypnotherapy does just that and creates positive change almost immediately!

As a hypnotherapist, I start helping you relax to and access the subconscious part of your mind.

The more you reduce the negative thoughts-loops that reinforce depression or unwanted issues, the more previously-automatic behavior patterns start to change into something better for you. Most clients report feeling extremely relieved, happier and more-optimistic after just one session. After just a handful of sessions, people start experiencing life-changing states-of-being and report making actual life-changing decisions (for the better!)!

How Does Hypnotherapy Help Rework My Subconscious Mind If I'm "Fully Aware" and "Fully In Control?"

This is a great question! To answer that question, ask yourself this question:


The very first time you heard of a new math concept, like "1+1=2" were you fully aware? Probably yes. Did it become knowledge that your brain pulled up in an instant, or did it take some repetition and practical applications many times over before you got what addition was, and before it became a normal? Yeah, it took a few times. And once you practiced "1+1=2" a few dozen (or hundred or, over your life, thousand) times, it became a math "thought super highway" that you'd be pretty hard-pressed to change. (Yeah, yeah, we also believe they saying, "1+1=11 when talking about the power of collaboration, but I digress). The point is: You were fully aware when you learned about it, and over time, the notion that "1+1=2" became basically automatic.


What about this scenario: When you relive a bad memory or negative thought in your mind, are you aware and in control of what you're thinking about? What if you think those negative thoughts 20x in a row, and really get your emotions into them? Okay, now what if you do that 100's or 1000's of times in any one day, week or month? Answer: you're going to start feeling more-negative, and, you're going to teach your mind to think those negative thoughts more often. (i.e. build up those negative thought loops).


Now, introduce the power of guided hypnosis, which takes you past that judging part of your brain that tries to question everything before you let it past... and introduce to your subconscious ideas that reframe past negative experiences so they start acting more like lessons-learned (and less like powerful monsters from the past that control you). Start replacing the negative emotions associated with negative experiences with positive, growth-oriented emotions, and just imagine the personal growth that you'll start experiencing!


If you imagine your brain as being a system of super-highways (made of neurons and synaptic connections etc.), freeways, roads and pathways- each being a lesson, fact learned, emotion, memory etc. Now imagine taking traffic cones and gradually blocking lanes of negative emotion super highways, and redirecting traffic onto newly-built positive thought superhighways, and you can just imagine what happens! Your brain becomes run less-and-less by those negative "superhighway thought loops," and increasingly run by positive thought-loops, habits, etc.


When you start spending more time on the, "I see myself as a healthy person" highway, you're more likely to make healthy choices that help you to lose weight. When you spend more time on the "I value myself and look forward to my future, one day at a time" superhighway (rather than the, "Everything sucks so I might as well go eat worms" superhighway), you become a happier person who experiences positive growth far faster than ever before. When you stop letting fears and phobias be the things that lead your thought patterns and control your emotions, and instead let newly-installed positive-optimistic thought-highways lead the way; then your life becomes far happier and far more fulfilling.

Yes! Is it a magic pill? No, of of course not! However, several studies have shown guided hypnosis to work extremely well at making positive change in just a few sessions. It's shown to improve self confidence; reduce stress; heal depression and anxiety; and have a very positive effect on a person's overall self esteem and well-being

Let's start by saying psychotherapy (talk therapy) plays an important role in healing mental health. We at Healing You Hypnotherapy are not diagnosticians. We do not prescribe medications. Our training is that of clinical hypnotherapist, certified by the IACT (International Association of Counselors and Therapists.


So, what's the difference?


After approximately 600 sessions, psychoanalysis is expected to show a 38% rate of recovery.

After 22 sessions of behaviour therapy (Wolpian), you can expect a 72% rate of recovery.

After 6 sessions, on average, hypnotherapy is expected to have 93% improvement rate on any one area (such as depression, anger, grief or loss, a bad habit, etc).

A 93% rate of improvement after just 6 sessions! That's pretty impressive, and we've found it to be true among our clients.


Once we're able to help our clients reduce stress, and reduce looming issues like panic attacks, depression or other issues, we then move on to other areas of personal growth like increasing self-esteem, improving focus etc.


Sometimes, clients come to us with unwanted habits and addictive behaviors (like smoking, drinking too much alcohol, procrastination). And we tend to find underlying emotional issues, trauma or other fears as triggers to the addictive behaviors and habits. Sometimes these are caused by childhood issues, sometimes by life itself. When we address these things and do child healing work or whatever healing is needed during the time with your therapist, not only are the habits reduced (and people are able, for example, to stop smoking), but they experience positive results in many areas of their lives, including those previously-heavy emotional and mental health issues.

Hypnotherapy is a powerful form of psychotherapy that uses relaxation, concentration and focused attention to reach a higher state of consciousness, focus, or mindfulness. We dive down into your subconscious where you build your own positive suggestions.


Therapists use verbal cues, repetition, and mental images as part of the therapy meeting.

Hypnosis is often done by a therapist who uses mental images and verbal repetition. When you experience hypnosis, you often feel more relaxed, calm, and open to new ideas.

You can use it to control unwanted behaviors, to cope with pain or anxious thoughts better, and to improve desired habits and skills (such as the ability to focus and get things done; having more happiness on a daily basis; increasing confidence and creativity, and much more)!

Often-times, inner child healing is a part of the process. However, we never broach a subject unless you want to.


You'll be glad to know that, while under hypnosis you are more open to suggestions you do not- in any way- lose control over your behaviors or thoughts.

What is an initial hypnotherapy session like?


This initial practice is structured like an introduction "first session" so it's a little bit longer than usual sessions. It will take about 90 minutes (whereas most follow up meetings would be roughly one hour (or around 50 minutes).

As far as what is said during the session and how you will feel, here's a quick summary:


- Because hypnosis, hypnotherapy (in San Diego and elsewhere) is simply guided-hypnosis. It is about relaxing deeper and essentially having a conversation with the subconscious mind, you (or any hypnotherapy client), will be fully aware and awake during the session. Just much deeper relaxed.

- We will have a brief conversation at the beginning of the session, where I'll ask some questions about what you'd like to work on during the session, and get some details on that.

- Then I'll explain, in more detail, what hypnosis is (it's kind of like meditation with a goal, and where you and I have a conversation during this meditative-like state). While it feels a little different for everyone, most people describe it as being very relaxing, usually cathartic and feeling very good afterwards. You are fully aware and fully in control of what you say and what you want to talk about during the session.

- Throughout the session, we'll do two different exercises. One to teach & guide you through self-hypnosis, and another that is guided by me.

During these, I'll make some suggestions that help you to further relax further, like "Take a nice deep, letting go breath..." "Imagine going to a safe place that you love" or something similar. Then, we get your imagination even more involved, and have a conversation to help bring out the best in whatever area a client is wanting to work on.

For some people, they choose to work on a more-surface-level topic, such as learning to focus more (I get this one a lot), procrastinating less or something similar. This is just fine, and people tend to finish the sessions feeling not only relaxed, but also having more specific ideas on how to accomplish their goal, as well as more confidence in knowing that their goal is coming true.

For others, who decide to work on a sort of "deeper" subject (let's say a strong lack of confidence, stop smoking, anxiety, panic attacks, depression, or something along those lines) the experience tends to be also very relaxing, as well as more-intense (in a good way, I'm told!). For people who choose to share more personal details and to dig a little deeper, they may feel a little emotional during the session (again, in a good and cathartic way). They usually then end up feeling more-empowered and more-optimistic around the topic afterwards.

Keep in mind that whatever someone chooses to discuss during these sessions, it is completely confidential.

The experience is a little bit different for everyone. What I can promise is a very relaxing session. What also tends to happen with most people is a feeling of being more-empowered around whatever topic they want to improve upon.

Everybody "goes home" with a way to do self-hypnosis on their own (if they want), a recording of the session (only if they ok recording it at the start of the session, and ask for the recording, otherwise it is not recorded).
